In an effort to improve the quality of concrete, the construction industry is rapidly advancing. Several studies have been conducted to improve the quality of concrete, with the aim of enhancing its workability and increasing its compressive strength, among other benefits. This study investigated the addition of Damdex to self-compacting concrete (SCC). The concrete specimens being tested have target compressive strengths of fʹc = 30 MPa and fʹc = 40 MPa, along with Damdex concentrations of 0.6 %, 1.2 %, and The Widyagama University Malang laboratory conducted experimental tests as part of the research method. The aim of this study is to find the best amount of Damdex to add to self-compacting concrete (SCC) in order to get the strength improvement. It is also possible to know how adding Damdex changes the SCC’s mechanical properties, especially its compressive strength. A study says that when 0.6 %, 1.2 %, or 1.8 % of Damdex is added to self-compacting concrete (SCC) with a target strength of fʹc = 30 MPa, the compressive strength goes up by 1.35 percent, 5.38 percent, or 7.18 percent compared to regular concrete. Also, when compared to regular concrete at 0 %, 0.6 %, 1.2 %, and 1.8 % concentrations, self-compacting concrete (SCC) with a target strength of fʹc = 40 MPa has a higher compressive strength by 2.7 %, 6.8 %, 1.2 %, and 9.59 %. This results in a significant increase at higher concentrations. Damdex has proven to be effective in enhancing the compressive strength of self-compacting concrete (SCC), with its optimal concentration being in the range of 1.2 % to 1.8 %. © The Author(s) 2025.
